Companions for the Climb

Pets are creatures that fight beside you in the tower — tanking hits, mending wounds, or tearing into enemies while you focus on the fight. They start as mysterious eggs, hatch with their own strengths, and grow with you through training and talents. A well-raised pet can be the difference between stalling out and breaking through to the next floor.

Finding Eggs

Every floor you clear has a small chance to drop a pet egg. Which eggs can drop depends on how deep you are — the creatures of the lower floors are humble, and what waits higher up is for you to discover.

An egg's name tells you its archetype — a Bulwark Egg holds some kind of protector, a Mender Egg a healer, a Merciless Egg a hunter — but not which creature is inside, or how strong it will be. You can hold as many eggs as you like, and eggs you don't want can be sold to other players on the Egg Market for gold.

Hatching & Grades

Every pet is graded from E up to S. When an egg hatches, each of its three stats — Health, Attack, and Speed — rolls its own grade based on the potential sleeping inside the egg. Most rolls land where the egg was destined to be, but a stat can come out a step weaker… or, rarely, a step or even two steps stronger. Two pets of the same species can hatch very differently — a lucky roll is worth celebrating.

A stat's grade determines how quickly it grows in training, so a high-grade stat pays off for the pet's whole life. You can keep up to 10 hatched pets in your stable; beyond that you'll need to release one to make room. Choose carefully — releasing is forever.

The Three Archetypes

Most pets belong to one of three roles. Below are the humble E-grade companions of the first floors — consider them your introduction. What hatches from deeper eggs, you'll have to find out yourself.

Bulwarks

Loyal beasts born to stand at the front and refuse to move. A Tank pet plants itself between its owner and the horrors of the tower, drawing hostile attention and soaking blows meant for softer allies. They hit slowly and rarely, but they endure what would flatten anything else. When the party is on the verge of breaking, a good Tank buys the seconds that turn a wipe into a victory

Menders

Gentle companions attuned to the life within their allies. A Healer pet mends wounds mid-battle, closing gashes and restoring vigor while the fight rages on. They bring little to the offense, but a party climbing deep into the tower lives or dies by its sustain, and a Healer keeps the whole team on their feet floor after floor. Overlook one, and you'll notice its absence the moment the healing stops.

Merciless

Feral, relentless creatures that exist to tear things apart. A Damage pet throws itself at the enemy with everything it has, shredding foes faster than any other archetype can manage. Fragile and reckless, it won't survive the front line for long, but paired with a Tank to hold the line and a Healer to keep it breathing, a Fang turns a grinding fight into a slaughter.

Raising Your Pet

Training

Each pet can train one of its stats every 6 hours, earning experience toward that stat's next level. How much it gains depends on that stat's grade — this is where a lucky hatch shines. Train consistently: a portion of your pet's training even carries over into future rounds, so no session is wasted.

Talents

Every archetype has its own talent tree — combat abilities and bonuses bought with gold, arranged in five tiers. Higher tiers unlock as you reach higher floors this round, so your pet's ceiling rises with your own climb.

Into Battle

Pets join your dungeon runs automatically when Bring Pets is on in your Stable. How many enter depends on your party size — the tower only has so much room on your side of the field:

  • Solo: your top 3 pets fight beside you
  • Duo: 2 pet slots between you
  • Trio or full party: 1 pet each

The order of your Stable is your battle order — your first pet is your battle pet, and the rest follow in sequence when there's room. In combat, pets take their own turns using the same Speed and Initiative rules as everyone else (see The Basics).

Somewhere up there, an egg is waiting for you.
